Hi, I'm Dr. Steven Horsburgh, president of Horsburgh.com (hence the name :-). For nearly three decades I have been designing, implementing, and operating online catalogs, data warehouses, and data marts. Most have been web-enabled. All use the latest (and relevant) software, hardware, and networking technologies. I've led projects ranging in size from "mom-and-pop" small businesses to multi-terabyte systems for multi-national organizations.

What's Here
I've picked up a few things along the way, and this site showcases some of them. This Web Site contains a lot of FREE information and tools. My consulting work keeps me employed, so I don't need to sell anything through this site! (You might notice some banner ads though.)

More About Me (for those interested)
I graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi in 1990. While there I obtained a Master's Degree in Atmospheric Physics (which explains my interest in tornadoes and lightning :-). I worked my way through graduate school as Director of Computing Resources at the National Center for Physical Acoustics.

After graduation, I worked at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory as a contractor with Telos. There I designed a data warehousing system to process tens of terabytes of data with hundreds of users. After leaving Telos, I spent the next seven years at Mission Research Corporation, a DoD defense contractor.

There I designed and managed many online systems, catalogs, data warehouses, data marts, etc. These were secure systems developed primarily for the U.S. Air Force. The systems ranged in size from a few hundred megabytes to tens of terabytes. Some of the systems were strictly local (intranets), others were global (extranets). I left Mission to form my own company, Willow Information Technologies, Inc where I was president and CEO.

At Willow our research and development team continued to push technology forward. Our implementations were typically two years ahead of the competition! The capabilities you see in our systems today are usually copied by others tomorrow.

We invested in state-of-the-art computer systems and high-speed Internet network connections. Using our systems to host online stores and provide remote data warehousing capabilities ensured that our clients were always at the forefront of technology.

Horsburgh.com was initially formed as a division of Willow to allow a focusing on Electronic Commerce and Data Warehousing. After leaving Willow to pursue other interests.... I kept the horsburgh.com site for myself.
